Ascent leadership

Jenny & Nathan Lackey

Nathan Lackey: I graduated from Memorial High School in 2016 and went on to attend Baylor University, where I graduated in 2020. Since then, I’ve been working at Blue Trust, a Christian wealth management firm, where I’ve found a lot of purpose in helping people steward their finances faithfully.

During my time at Baylor, God deepened my heart for discipleship and evangelism, shaping a clear calling to walk closely with students in their faith journeys. That calling led me back to Memorial to serve with Young Life, where I spent four incredible years witnessing God move in the lives of high school students—especially through the deep, relational time I got to spend with many of them.

Bringing Ascent to Memorial felt like a natural next step. It perfectly complements the outreach of Young Life by providing intentional, one-on-one discipleship that so many students need. So many friends in my circle are eager to disciple, but didn’t know where to start! I'm stoked for what God will continue to do through Ascent at Memorial and beyond.

Jenny Lackey: I graduated from Episcopal High School in 2016 and went on to attend Baylor University, graduating in 2020. For the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside my best friend and husband at Blue Trust, a Christian wealth management firm, serving as a Client Service Associate.

Throughout college, I found deep joy in discipling younger girls—whether through my sorority, my church youth group, or Baylor’s Freshman Leadership Organization (FLO). After moving back home to Houston post graduation, I’ve seen God’s faithfulness in a series of “yeses” to His calling: first as a small group leader at my home church, then leading Memorial Young Life with my best friend, and now launching The Memorial Ascent chapter with my husband.

We are so excited and expectant to see all that the Lord will accomplish through Ascent and the lives of these high school students.
